Our AML and Verification Policy

We hold licence OGL/2024/112/0974 issued in Curaçao, and with that licence comes a set of obligations we take seriously. This page sets out, in plain terms, how we verify who you are, how we monitor transactions, and what we ask of you under anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing (AML/CTF) rules.

Our AML Commitment

Trino Casino operates under Curaçao licence OGL/2024/112/0974, issued in 2024, and we run our platform in line with the anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing framework of that jurisdiction. Money laundering is the process of making illegally obtained funds appear legitimate, and gambling platforms can be misused for it. Our job is to make sure ours is not.

We appoint a dedicated Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and a compliance team responsible for the day-to-day running of this policy. Their remit covers customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting and staff training. We review the policy at least annually, and sooner when the rules or our risk assessment change. Nothing in this policy is decorative; every check described here is a check we actually perform.

When We Verify Your Account

Know Your Customer (KYC) verification is not a single event but a process tied to specific triggers. Here is when each check happens and what it covers.

  • At registration: we collect your legal name, date of birth, residential address, email and phone number, and screen them against sanctions and politically exposed person (PEP) lists.
  • At first withdrawal: full identity verification is required before we release any funds. This is non-negotiable under our licence conditions.
  • At deposit thresholds: if your cumulative deposits exceed AUD 2,000 within any rolling 30-day period, we may request documents earlier than the first withdrawal.
  • On suspicion: if our monitoring flags unusual activity, we can request verification at any point, regardless of amounts.

Documents we accept

  • Photo ID: passport, national identity card or driver's licence, valid and showing all four corners.
  • Proof of address: utility bill, bank statement or government correspondence dated within the last 90 days.
  • Payment method ownership: photo of the card (first six and last four digits visible, middle digits and CVV covered), or a screenshot of your e-wallet or crypto wallet showing your name and account number.

How Verification Works Step by Step

The process is deliberately straightforward so it does not hold up legitimate withdrawals for long. Follow these steps and most verifications clear inside a day.

  • Log in and open the verification section of your account profile.
  • Select the document type you are uploading and photograph it against a plain background, with all details legible and no glare.
  • Upload the file through our secure portal, never by email or live chat.
  • Our compliance team reviews the submission; standard review time is up to 48 hours, though most checks complete within a few hours.
  • If anything is unclear, we contact you through your registered email with a specific request. You will never be asked to resend everything blindly.
  • Once approved, your account is marked verified and withdrawals process normally, typically within 0 to 24 hours.

How we protect your documents

Documents are uploaded over an encrypted connection and stored on servers with access restricted to the compliance team on a need-to-know basis. We do not share your verification data with third parties except where we are legally required to do so by our regulator or by law enforcement acting with proper authority. We never ask for your full card number, CVV, passwords or wallet private keys; anyone who does is not us, and you should report it to [email protected] immediately.

When We Ask for Source of Funds

For most players, identity and payment verification is all we ever need. For larger or unusual patterns of play, our licence obliges us to understand where the money comes from. This is not an accusation; it is a standard enhanced due diligence step applied across the regulated gambling industry.

We typically request source of funds evidence when your deposits exceed AUD 10,000 cumulatively, when deposits spike sharply relative to your history, or when betting patterns suggest funds are being moved through the account rather than genuinely wagered. Acceptable evidence includes payslips, employment contracts, tax returns, bank statements showing regular income, or documents relating to the sale of assets. Crypto deposits may require evidence of the fiat off-ramp or exchange account the coins came from. We assess each case individually and treat the information in strict confidence.

How We Monitor Transactions

Every deposit and withdrawal on our platform passes through automated and manual screening. The automated layer checks transaction size, frequency, funding source and jurisdiction against your verified profile. The manual layer, run by our compliance team, reviews anything the system flags. Together they protect you as much as us, because early detection of account takeover or third-party misuse limits the damage either way.

  • Same-method rule: withdrawals must generally return to the same method used for the deposit, in proportion to what was deposited through it. Any remainder can go to a method of your choice.
  • Third-party payments are rejected: deposits from accounts, cards or wallets not registered in your own name cannot be played with and will be returned.
  • Limits: minimum withdrawal AUD 30, maximum 8,000 AUD per day, 32,000 AUD per week, 80,000 AUD per month. We charge no fees on our side.
  • Crypto withdrawals settle to the wallet address you verify with us; address changes require re-confirmation before processing.

If Verification Fails

We would rather resolve a verification issue than close an account, and in most cases a clear photo of the right document is all it takes. But we cannot release funds from an unverified account, and repeated non-compliance leaves us with limited options. Here is exactly what happens at each stage.

First, we suspend withdrawals, not deposits, while we wait for documents. You will get at least one written request and a reasonable window to respond, normally 14 days. Second, if documents are rejected, we tell you why, whether it is expiry, blur, cropped edges or a name mismatch, and you can resubmit. Third, if you do not respond at all, or if we find deliberate misrepresentation, we close the account. In the case of genuine misrepresentation, confirmed fraud or a sanctions match, we are required to freeze the balance and file a report with the relevant authorities, and funds may be held pending their direction. If we determine the account was operated legitimately but verification simply was not completed, we return your remaining balance to the verified source of the deposits.

How Long We Keep Records

Under our Curaçao licence obligations, we retain verification documents, transaction records and KYC files for a minimum of five years after the account closes or the last transaction, whichever is later. Retention exists for audit and investigation purposes: regulators, financial intelligence units and, in defined circumstances, law enforcement can lawfully request these records. Once the retention period expires and no legal hold applies, we delete or anonymise the records. You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you at any time by emailing [email protected], available 24/7.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to verify my account before playing?

No. You can register, deposit and play without verification. Full KYC is mandatory before your first withdrawal, or earlier if your cumulative deposits exceed AUD 2,000 in a rolling 30-day period.

How long does verification take?

Standard review time is up to 48 hours, though most submissions are approved within a few hours provided the documents are clear, current and match your account details.

Can I withdraw to a different method than I deposited with?

Withdrawals must first return to the deposit method in proportion to what you deposited through it. Any remaining balance can be withdrawn to another method of your choice.

Why was my document rejected?

The usual reasons are expiry, blur or glare, cropped edges, a name that does not match your registration details, or an address document older than 90 days. We always tell you the specific reason so you can fix it.

What happens to my money if I fail verification?

If the account was operated legitimately and verification simply was not completed, we return your remaining balance to the verified source of your deposits. Funds linked to fraud or sanctions matches may be frozen pending direction from the relevant authorities.
